We now have planning permission in place for a full size allweather in Griffeen Park. When the next round of Sports Granst is introduced we will apply as a partnership to obtain funding to secure the all-weather facility.
At a photo call meeting in the Spa Hotel Lucan on Friday 26th of May, the Managers of the 5 Lucan Soccer Partnership Group – Arthur Griffith Park FC, Ballyowen Celtic FC , Beech Park FC, Esker Celtic FC and Lucan United FC, met with Niall Quinn (Former Irish International) and discussed with him their project of an All-Weather Facility and developing each of their clubs activity to meet the needs of “Football for All” Project.
Niall Quinn Former International Player and Sunderland Chairman outlined to the club managers present, that he supports wholeheartedly what they are doing “I was involved in a similar project in Sunderland during my time there and we worked with the local authorities and the police authorities in identifying how we could assist in diversion services of antisocial behaviour. We were also involved in helping homework clubs” said Quinn for e.g. we would invite students to attend a match and write a report for the Sunderland Clubs Newspaper.
Niall Quinn also indicated that in the future he would be happy to help with a football academy for the five clubs “can I encourage you to keep at it” said Quinn.
Niall Quinn was a guest of Deputy Derek Keating, Chairman of the 5 Lucan Soccer.
Derek said “ I want to thank Niall for travelling up from his home in Kildare to spend these couple of hours sharing his commitment to young people by way of sport and encouraging the Lucan Partnership. Niall Quinn is also a very successful; business man and he knows when something good is happening” said Keating. “ I was especially delighted with how he advised each of the individual clubs to continue in “excellence”.
Derek Keating went on the say at the meeting “Niall’s endorsement, having discussed the plans and examined the proposals is a very positive and welcome endorsement”.
I am happy to facilitate and chair this project which we have managed to conclude an agreement after months of private meetings and sensitive discussions taking everybody’s interests in to consideration.
This project of an All-Weather Facility, along with advancing the needs to young soccer players of every age, gender and ability, is an exciting phase and as the only public representative involved at every level, I have assured the authorities of the commitment by each club representative and their committees to the partnership. Again I wish to thank Niall Quinn along with the endorsements from each of the individual schools in Lucan, the Gardaí, Parish Groups and other sporting bodies in highlighting the value of this application.
